Earlier this week we were joined by over forty pupils from a local school who we introduced to "The World of Radio" showing them how English and Mathematics could be used in producing a radioshow. Our schools project is one of many of the many ways Bolton FM gets involved in the wider community.

Join Bolton FM for a mulled wine and mince pie at Bolton Hospice' annual Christmas fair this Saturday from 11am? It'll be held at the hospice and throughout the grounds. The whole family can enjoy a selection of stalls, games, crafts, raffle and tombolas. Children can visit Santa's grotto where they will get to see Santa and receive a special Christmas gift. There will be hot refreshments throughout the event and a wonderful variety of family entertainment scheduled throughout the day to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Next Tuesday is International Men's Day-- a day of positive role models and raise awareness of men's well-being. Join us from 7am for a day of guest presenters, starting with Dave Bagley from Urban Outreach and Darren Knight from Bolton CVS.

Singer, actor and ice-skater extraordinaire Ray Quinn will top the bill at this year's celebration, which is sponsored by Market Place Shopping Centre.

Ray, who is also starring in Aladdin, the Albert Halls' Christmas pantomime, became a household name after singing his way to the nation's hearts on The X Factor in 2006.

He was the popular celebrity contestant who won Dancing on Ice in 2009 and will be pulling on his skates again for the ITV festive special, Dancing on Ice at Christmas.

Ray, who has also starred in the TV soap Hollyoaks, will turn on the lights in Victoria Square, on Thursday, November 21.

We'll be joining in with the light switch on from the main stage at Market Place Shopping Centre.
