This is the hardest column I've had to write on behalf of Bolton FM, there has been incredible sadness at Bolton FM this week as David Gregory passed away earlier this week.

David had been with Bolton FM from the very beginning and his show Monday Night Jazz was a regular part of the Bolton FM schedule from 2009 until he stood down in March 2018.

Monday Night Jazz was an incredibly popular show, whether you liked your jazz hot or cool, modern or traditional, David's warm presenting style and knowledge were a Monday Night highlight.

During his tenure David interviewed local jazz musicians like Fred Shawcross; jazz enthusiasts like Johnny Ball and interviewing the internationally acclaimed Kenny Ball was another highlight.

Along with being passionate about the town and Bolton FM, David proved was a dedicated presenter with a real passion for fans of Jazz. He was one of the nicest gentlest and lovely men you could meet, always positive and with humour and in my opinion one of the best voices I've ever heard on radio.

Bolton FM Chairman Andrew Dickson often recounts the night Bolton FM launched when David was being interviewed by a young female reporter from Bolton News. He was asked 'why was he getting involved in the station at "his age".

David paused, winked and said "My dear, this is the most fun you can have with your clothes on."

Bolton FM, and all of its volunteers offer their sincere condolences to all of David's Family and Friends.
