According to research undertaken by the Carers Trust there are an estimated 700,000 young carers in the UK; people who are under 18 who help look after someone in their family, or a friend, who are ill, disabled or misuse drugs or alcohol.

Bolton FM have been backing the Carers Trust #CareForMeToo campaign through our 'Young Voices' project. Young voices is the first project being delivered by Bolton FM's Media Academy which aims to empower young people to shape their world and lead change. Tailored workshops at the radio station allow them to develop communication skills whilst reducing social isolation and facilitating peer support.

This Thursday two young carers Rhys and April will be hosting 'This is Bolton'. They'll be talking to local service providers, commissioners and local politicians about Young Carers and sharing some of their favourite music with our listeners.

If you want to join Young Voices or simply ask questions, you can email youngvoices@boltonfm.com

In the meantime tune your radio in to 96.5 FM; log-on to Boltonfm.com or ask your "smart speaker" to "play Bolton FM" and support Rhys and April from 11am for two hours of 'This is Bolton' on "the voice of the Bolton
Family.
